Can you bring your own materials? Yes — here's how

In most turnkey deals, the design firm buys your materials and bills you at a marked-up rate you never see. There's another way: pay vendors directly, keep control of every rupee, and pay a designer only for the work.

Material freedom is the core of radical price transparency — your money, your vendors.

Ask most interior companies "can I buy the materials myself?" and you'll get a soft no. That's not a coincidence — for many of them, the margin on materials is the business. The design fee is the headline; the real money is the quiet markup added when they procure your plywood, laminate and hardware on your behalf.

Design Alley is built the other way around. Here's exactly how bring-your-own-materials and direct-to-vendor payment work.

How "pay vendors directly" actually works

  1. We design and specify. Your designer details exactly what's needed — board grade, shutter finish, hardware brand, quantities — in an itemised scope.
  2. You pay vendors directly. For materials we don't manufacture, the payment goes straight from you to the supplier at the real price. Nothing is routed through a margin.
  3. We manufacture and execute. Our own factory in IDA Jeedimetla does the precision job work, and our team installs on site under a 51-point quality check.
  4. You pay us only for the work. One clear fee for job work + site supervision — the thing you're actually hiring a designer for.

"Bring your own" vs "buy direct" — what's the difference?

Two flavours of the same freedom:

Either way, you keep control of the largest part of the budget — and there's no incentive for anyone to upsell you a material grade you don't need.

Why an own factory makes this honest

Firms that outsource carpentry need the material margin to make the numbers work. Because we manufacture in our own factory, we can earn fairly on precision job work and supervision alone — which is exactly why we can hand you the materials decision instead of guarding it.

A few sensible cautions

Frequently asked questions

Can I bring my own materials for a home interior project?

Yes. With Design Alley you can supply your own materials or buy them directly from vendors, and pay us only for precision job work and site supervision. You're never forced to buy materials through us at a marked-up rate.

What does paying vendors directly mean?

It means the money for materials goes straight from you to the supplier at the real price, with no margin added by the design firm in between. The designer earns a transparent fee for job work and supervision instead of a hidden markup on goods.

Will the warranty still apply if I bring my own materials?

Workmanship is covered by our warranty regardless of who supplied the materials. Material-specific warranties (for hardware, appliances and boards) come from the respective brands — which is why we recommend warrantied brands even when you source them yourself.
